Although I am saving as much money as possible for 2018 I believe in investing in myself either just to make me happy, or to increase my productivity and organization. My words of the year are Brave and Hustle so I want to work as hard as I can but also as smart as I can. By enriching my life outside of my work it means I will be in the better mind frame to get stuck in my work and keep creating. Here are some of the things I am recently loving and think will make a huge difference to my productivity this new year.
You might be wondering, how can a Mirror make your year productive? But basically before I received this mirror for Christmas I had a large ugly mirror on my dressing table. My dressing table is also where my computer sits so where I do most of my work.
Having clutter on my desk really distracts me and I cannot focus properly until it is all put away. This mirror is so handy, I can just fold down the back and put it in my drawer. It is wireless, just as bright and clear and super easy for travelling too.
Now I know this is more of a splurge item but after looking and comparing as many as I could I really thought this was the best for me. I no longer use a diary, just the one on my phone but I thought I would be a bit lost without something tangible to use to write down my goals, dreams etc. I also find it a lot easier with prompts so this planner looked perfect for me.
This means I can go through my year knowing my goals and what I need to do to have my happiest year yet.
These earbuds are firstly beautiful but secondly amazing at sound cancelling. These are the perfect earbuds to put on some music and turn off the outside world so you can get your head down and work with no distractions. I also love taking earphones with my every where I go especially on my commute to work so I can listen to podcasts. Here are the Podcasts I love listening to.
These earphones also have a microphone so you can use with your phone to make calls.
I recently started losing sleep I swear, because I have developed the most infuriating line down the side of my nose from how my face creases in my sleep. I have tried to force myself to sleep on my back even when I am not comfortable but always end up waking up on my side. I actually stress myself out about this and feel like I am losing sleep as I am not making myself comfortable and I am overthinking how I am sleeping.
Because of this, I invested in a silk pillowcase. Now it is too soon to tell for myself but I have read some amazing reviews about how good these are for your skin and hair. I must admit it does feel luxurious lying on a beautiful silk pillow.
Books are one of the most valuable investments you can make in yourself. They are affordable but offer so much information which is actionable. I would definitely look into getting yourself a little library of self-help or business books to focus your mind on building a future you love.
The best book I have read in this sort of category is 'Mastering Your Mean Girl' by Melissa Ambrosini. We all have a Mean Girl inside of us and mine is super mean, it always has been. This book firstly made me aware that I had the mean girl in the first place but also showed me how to manage her and ignore what she says. I have struggled with self-doubt for a long while and it holds me back in a lot of things that I do. Reading this book has motivated and inspired me to move froward and do what I really love without listening to that little voice at the back of my head.
