Why I Cancelled My Membership to a Top Coaching Website

I thought I would share my experience on why I canceled my membership with a top coaching website and it wasn't because I didn't think the membership site was no good. I didn't cancel because I did not get any real value from it, I actually loved the membership.

It was a great place with so much information and value. So much so that I could have spent hours just looking at all the information and watching the videos and taking everything in and for the most part I was.

I work full time, so every time I had a spare hour on my lunch break, whilst getting ready in the morning and on the evenings when I work on my website I was just consuming all of this information. Then I realised that this was all I was doing. I was just watching these videos and making notes and then instead of applying it the next chance I would get, I would just watch another video, read another post. I felt like because I didn't have much time and because this was an investment (and quite expensive for me) I had to make the most of it, but I wasn't. Making the most of this was actually giving myself time to apply what I was learning and getting results but I just wasn't using this tool correctly.

We can consume as much information as we like and fill our minds with all sorts of tips and ideas but what use to us is that when we do not apply it in any way? My notebooks were just filling up but the changes to my business and website were not happening. This wasn't because the tips being shared with me weren't any good, it's because once those notes were in my notebook I wouldn't look at them again, I would just fill the next page with even more.

After a while, I was beginning to feel overwhelmed. I was getting information about Pinterest, Customer Service, Branding etc. but I wasn't putting my focus on any of them. I felt like I didn't know where to start because I hadn't let myself take just one step at a time. I was filling my head with all sorts of different ideas that were pulling me in all kinds of directions and I didn't know which way to turn. So I just stayed where I was, at the same spot I had started.

I realised now was just not the right time for me to be investing in this membership so I decided to cancel. I am already getting lots of free content that is so helpful for me right now and I am not forcing myself to overconsume this because I know I am not paying for it. I know that it will still be there tomorrow. I am slowing down on my consumption of information and switching my focus to creation. I am just concentrating on one thing at a time and taking it slow so I don't overwhelm myself. Overwhelm can stop us in our tracks if we are not careful so we need to take it step by step and think methodically about what we are doing to get the most value.

It is all well and good doing your research, attending webinars, reading blog posts etc. but what good is it really if you are not implementing what you have learned.

It is ok to take a time out from consuming information for your business but only if the alternative is taking action. As long as you have the steps in place and the ability to start moving forward, even if it is only baby steps then you are moving in the right direction.

I will be rejoining this membership site in the future. The resources were brilliant and the support from other members was like nothing else, but this will be when I am in a better mindset and can really focus on taking action. I am excited to learn a few things slowly right now and then when the right time comes to get really stuck in with a training course.

Also a similar situation; I am also subscribed to a lot of emails from bloggers and business coaches but I am slowly unsubscribing from a few because I am getting so many emails per day, again, I am feeling overwhelmed with it all. I don't take in the content and sometimes won't even open the emails themselves. If I just stick to a few emails with the people I know I resonate with the most and soak up all the information they can give, I will be in a good position to action each step. So this is my goal, I am clearing out my inbox and sticking with the helpful few, and taking new lessons each day from them that I can action straight away.

Have you thought about doing this?
